1878 and an inexplicable series of visions
Part 1 'The sleeping Louise'

This new work takes its inspiration from a small moment in history to create a new and highly imaginative response to Kellie Castle and its past.

'The sleeping Louise' is a one-night, art installation which explores the moment in objects, light, performance art and voice. All of this alongside a performance of Tchaikovsky's Souvenir d'un lieu cher of 1878 by violinist Feargus Hetherington and pianist Edward Cohen.

Hirda was directed by Robert Carson and the Libretto was by Sian Evans. Shetland fiddle music old and new will be part of tonight's performance.

Recital to remember Yehudi Menuhin

22 April marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of one of the 20th century's outstanding musicians and humanitarians - Yehudi Menuhin.

This concert performance will highlight works associated with Menuhin, and delve into the music of some of his friends and mentors. Feargus is a former Live Music Now musician - a charity, founded by Menuhin to bring music to those in care and in need.

"The violin, through the serene clarity of its song, helps to keep our bearings in the storm: as a light in the night, a compass in the tempest, it shows us a way to a haven of sincerity and respect." (Yehudi Menuhin)

Approximate programme:

J.S Bach - Chaconne in D Minor (from Partita no.2 BWV 1004)

Eugène Ysaÿe - Solo Sonata op.27 no.5

Béla Bartók - Duos (selected from the 44 Duos for two violins)

Hommage à Robert Schumann

Robert Schumann's Fairy Tales for Clarinet, Viola and Piano, stormy and tender, set the mood for György Kurtág's deeply-felt Hommage à Robert Schumann, a work rich in allusions to the Romantic composer's fantastical alter egos Master Raro, Eusebius and Florestan. The programme concludes with Aram Khachaturian's exuberant Trio for Clarinet, Violin and Piano, based on Middle Eastern folk melodies.
